Please view the pre-season list of the Top 40 Defensive Backs. This will be a basic format to provide an early look into the projected ranking slots at the DB position during the early part of training camps as we head towards the pre-season openers.

Note: The top 40 will be changed as various players surface and/or fall off before the actual season starts. Each time this list is edited, I will be certain to make note of any alterations so you can also update your ranking sheet .

This is a quick glance at the pre-season top-50 Linebacker rankings. As of right now, this is a basic format to provide an early look into the projected ranking slots at the linebacker position during the early part of training camps as we head towards the pre-season openers. The top 50 will be changed as various players surface and/or fall off before the actual season starts. Each time this list is edited, I will be certain to make note of any alterations so you can also update your ranking sheet .

Standard scoring, 6 pts for a TD. Obviously I am over-projecting a little in that not as many QRs will crack over 20 TDs but I don't really predict injuries. Also this is not necessarily how I would draft these guys as I will downgrade for "risk" and take ADP into consideration during a draft, but this is how I see it playing out (for now):

Note haven't included Brett Favre yet.

Rank Player Passing Yards Passing TDs Rushing Yards Rushing TDs Fantasy Points
1 Peyton Manning 4385 36 35 1 400.9
2 Tom Brady 4256 35 64 2 398.64
3 Carson Palmer 4106 32 65 0 362.74
4 Tony Romo 3985 29 86 1 348
5 Drew Brees 4050 28 35 0 333.5
6 Ben Roethlisberger 3645 26 101 2 323.9
7 David Garrard 3385 22 225 3 307.9

In 2007 it was Greg Jennings, Dwayne Bowe, Roddy White, Braylon Edwards, Wes Welker, and Brandon Marshall.

Every season a bunch of guys break out at the WR, which kind of supports the argument that u should draft RB/QB early and pick WRs later. That's a different argument tho, I'm interested to know who people think will be on this year's list.

Please elaborate why you feel for a certain player.

My list for 08:

Calvin Johnson - An obvious choice because of the hype surrounding him coming out of college. No more Martz means less 4-5 WR sets and guys like Shaun McDonald and Mike Furrey will no longer still looks that belong to Megatron. Calvin played through a back injury for a lot of last year which hurt his numbers as well. He could near 1000 yards and will score a bunch of redzone TDs.

Santonio Holmes - Perhaps he already broke out technically but I think this year he becomes elite. Arians offense likes to go deep.

Drew Carter - Ronny Curry is recovering from surgery and Javon Walker is definately a question mark as well. Drew Carters got speed and can be a factor in the redzone. Raiders have been very impressed with him so far.

Who you got?

I know I am amongst many FFers who are high on Bowe and Gonzales for this upcoming season.

May have to temper those expectations a bit guys.

It was mentioned in the ‘Breakout WRs’ by ft ball fan (nice catch there fan) that most of their numbers last year though were with Huard at QB, not Croyle.

So decided to look at it closer…not so good for the Chiefs WR and TE.
