Chad Ochocinco is on the way out in New England.

The Patriots attempted to trade Ochocinco and weren’t able to find any takers, and as a result they’ll release him, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Ochocinco’s departure comes after just one season in New England, a season in which he contributed almost nothing to the offense: He caught just 15 passes for 276 yards in 2011.

The 34-year-old Ochocinco, who was once a Pro Bowler with the Bengals and a consistent 1,000-yard receiver, will now become an unrestricted free agent. Given that the Patriots weren’t able to find any takers on the trade market — and given his weak production in New England last season — he’s likely going to find few teams interested in his services in free agency.

Ochocinco joins Terrell Owens, Braylon Edwards and Plaxico Burress as once-productive veteran receivers who are now on the free agent market, and who seem to be viewed as more trouble than they’re worth by most NFL teams.

b-bye Ochostinko... I never really liked you as a FF player... but you were amusing for a while (and IMO over-rated too). More show than go for sure.

Of those WR free agents.. I'm surprised no one is willing to take a chance on Plax.. and maybe even Braylon (although I'm not sure on the history of Braylon--was he a cancer/complainer/malcontent?). Plax just as a redzone target seems like he could be a great add in HOU, MIA, CLE. Infact CLE is so horribly bad at WR they should grab all these guys except TO.

I never liked chad as a person. As a FF player he helped me win a championship a couple times so in that regard I can't complain. Not surprised the patriots cut him after how little production he put up in that offense.

If that's the over/under line.. I'm going under and putting some serious cash on it. Even in his prime in CIN he'd disappear, then come back with big games to end up with decent totals for the year. Now there are no big games coming.. he's 30 ypg if he's lucky with some goose eggs in there IMO. I will say I'm glad MIA is doing something to get some talent... letting Brandon Marshall go... the cupboards are pretty baren there. Who's going to take attention from Ocho? Who's going to throw him the ball? With Brady throwing he didn't put up jack... now he has... a rookie? David Garrard? I don't see it... (but I've been wrong a lot :)).

Tanehill has the "upper hand" to win the job; the Dolphins had to do something to sabotage yet another QB that they've drafted.

Cowherd pointing out the Dolphins have Hard Knocks, and might have picked him up for TV reasons.

That is enough for Sake to taste good.
If it still repels you, then you must be ill."
