Felt this deserved its own thread...

2010 League Fees are due by the end of the month. That's just over a week left to get them sent.

Lest you think I'm being a stickler, this is what's in the original rules:

Quote

March 31st Payments are due-- Payments are due to the commish by March 31st. If your payment is not to the commish by then there will be a $5.00 penalty added onto your winnings that will get spread out among the pot for every week it is late up to 4 weeks. After 4 weeks your team will be forfited and open to new owners interested in taking it over.

After all payments are in the commish will purchase the league site. After the league site is up the commish will notify every owner by making a post on the message board. At that time everyone is to decide the proper roster moves to make to take the players that are on IR off IR to have their team at the league max of 30.

I've only moved the deadline up by a month since we have plenty to discuss in terms of rules changes, etc. Plus, the sooner we get the fees in, the sooner owners can start trading.

Still waiting on fees from:

Spear Fighting Turf Monkeys
Paydirt

I'm sorry guys I totally forgot. I'll send it via PayPal asap.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

C'mon Joe, you're putting Cam in an uncomfortable spot. Could you at least communicate with him if there is some sort of issue?

Alright guys. Joe is going to be unable to continue owning a team, so we need to find a replacement owner. If anybody knows of somebody willing to take a team, let's get them in here.

To be honest, I'm kind of tired of the constant turnover we have every year. That coupled with virtually no activity in the offseason have me questioning whether its even worth it to continue this league. I took over commish duties last offseason with the hopes that we wouldn't keep seeing turnover. I know its just one person, but its been going on the last few years.

To answer your question, I'd prefer to have someone in by referral, but we could post in the CAN to see what we can find.

one owner a year is typical isn't it? we can fix that off season activity with more owners that would be involved.
hawk nest egg was interested in joining a league...and would be a very active owner

Sam Cam you did a great job last year as commish. I think you have to expect a little turnover from time to time. Sorry to see Joe go because I liked competing against him but I think we can find another solid owner who will be active.
Finding an owner should be easy, especially with the fact this was a playoff team last year and has some promising young guys on it. Joe left this team in a decent place.

I don't think we'll have any problems finding an owner to replace as he has all his picks, and one owner a year is about average for dynasty leagues. People just don't stay in them like a re-draft, because if they end up with a bust they are stuck with them. Where as with re-draft leagues you have a clean slate every year.

I think before we post it out to the open forum that we first open it up to people we know. Leagues often stay together if they know people in the league rather than just bunch of forum junkies with no ties.

I think you guys are overestimating the value of this team. It could be tough to fill. Maclin, Fitz, Collie, Bess, James Jones are a solid WR group, but D. Brown, Maroney, Hightower, Bell & Jacobs is not a quality backfield and there is no QB. TE is not top 12, Def isn't all that great either. There is decent depth, but after Fitz no reliable players.

Thanks for the vote of confidence when the owner browses our forum. The team could easily be turned around if he deals Fitz. Could get a 3 package deal with two players and draft pick or player and two draft picks. Draft smart and that team is just as competitive as others. With starting 3 WR's in a PPR there will be plenty of people wanting a top 5 WR.

There are far worse teams in this league than this one.

I'd be in that market and willing to overpay. Probably where they need to start (moving Fitz).

anyone who knows anything about fantasy football will look at that team and see the same things I said. It's all about finding someone to take on a project. If Maroney and Jacobs can somehow live up to potential, then this team could compete tomorrow.

This team did make the playoffs last year. It has several young receivers with promise. It may have a starting QB in Rosenfels. Those RBs are decent enough to compete because the Wrs can make up for it.

Anybody have any leads on this?

As Johnny pointed out, I think we'd all rather have someone somebody knows as opposed to some random poster, but if we can't find someone who fits that bill, we need to look outside.

Looks like not much support from current owners. Probably have to open it up to the forums. It would be nice to get it out there early to get those owners taht get draft day itch to join a league.

I've asked a few people I know and it's been one of two things:
1. They are happy with the number of leagues they are in, or,
2. They are decreasing the number of leagues they are in.
So, I have nothing.

As soon as he checks in, I'll give him the info. (Since he doesn't have internet access, I can't very well point him the right direction ;) )

It sounds like we'll be waiting til he gets internet access.

Well if he doesn't have internet access right now that's cool, but how is Loose contacting him? Just have Loose communicate the information to him. All he needs is an address to send payment.

Doesn't that make more sense than stringing this out longer?

Hawk Nester says he has a paypal account. I sent him Cam's paypal (assumed it was same as e-mail). If he doesn't pay by the weekend, my roommate just told me he'd take over the team. Roommate never played fantasy football before, I was wondering why cause we talk about scrub players all the time and he knows the league. Never thought of asking him before. this wouldn't be a bad starter league and he already told me that he couldn't trade Fitz to me because I didn't have any QB's and would need to get one as part of the deal. Now how the hell does a beginner fantasy player know that? Either way, we should have this taken care of by early next week, so hopefully everyone is ready to get moving. I know I am...I wouldn't recommend either of these guys if I didn't think they could take care of their business.

It must be nice to be a Chad Henne owner today...

It doesn't matter to me if we go with Nester or with Loose's snuggle buddy. Just be nice to have all money in before the draft.

Funny thing is the Henne owner already holds Eli and Phillip Rivers. Possibly soon to be owner of Fitzgerald and one less QB

It doesn't matter to me if we go with Nester or with Loose's snuggle buddy. Just be nice to have all money in before the draft.

Funny thing is the Henne owner already holds Eli and Phillip Rivers. Possibly soon to be owner of Fitzgerald and one less QB
I'm sure the Brees, Romo, Freeman, Ben owner would have something to say about that if that is what they are looking for. I think 1.07 is near a lock to get the best QB, and they need to upgrade their RB corps. that's what I'm selling at least...If anything, It'll drive the price up

haha, funny joke. Extra money helps, tough economy and I could be going back to school sooner than later.

No doubt it is going to take some players/picks to bring in Fitz. In a PPR league where you start 3 WR's and a flex, top 10 WR's are a prime players to have on your roster. Sure his status may take a small hit with Warner retiring, but his previous numbers should keep the value up there. The biggest thing, if you are trading him away you better make sure you are getting the right players back. Because after that guy is gone that roster looks a whole lot different.

So rolling the dice on alot of rookie picks would be very dicey. Need to get some proven talent for that guy.

Very happy Henne owner checking in. Unfortunately also not so happy owner of Wes Welker and Kevin Smith and Holmes. You win some you lose some.

There looks to be a few owners out there in need of a QB besides this team but I'm sure I will be talking with this owner and others once trades can be set in motion. Just excited get the owner in and also the NFL draft over with to see what other opportunities are out there for grabbing players.

Hawk Nest Egg said his paycheck won't clear until Wed. Guess we'll give him until then?

As long as HNE definately wants in and LC has a backup guy in his roommate I'd be willing to wait until the end of the month for him come up with the money and get himself situated.
