Running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who held out from training camp in the hopes of getting a new contract, will report to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, a source familiar with the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The Jaguars did not give him a new contract, according to the source. It's possible they could waive the $1.2 million in fines he accrued during his absence, though that is unclear.
Analysis: If MJD does report today it's likely he would be available for Week 1 although very unlikely he would see any kind of normal workload. Expect Rashad Jennings to carry the bulk of the carries in Week 1 but MJD's stock is now on the rise.

Roto says he was certain to come back before he start losing game checks. PFT on numbers:
Quote
It’s a win for the Jaguars. Agent Adika Bakhari declined comment on the question of whether Jones-Drew received any concessions or inducements to report, which means at a minimum that Jones-Drew didn’t get a new deal, or an adjustment to his existing one.
At most, Jones-Drew can hope for a waiver or reduction of his fines, which at $30,000 per day exceed $1.1 million. That’s nearly 25 percent of his $4.45 million base salary in 2012.
Of course, if he hadn’t reported this week, Jones-Drew wouldn’t have been able to earn the first installment of his $4.45 million base salary, which is paid out in 17 checks of $261,764.70 each.

Roto:
Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey indicated Monday that Maurice Jones-Drew will be a rotational third-down back in Week 1.
Rashad Jennings will start, and the Jaguars aren't ready to hand MJD a big role immediately after a 38-day holdout. Jones-Drew will "get some reps to get Rashad rest," against the Vikings. Jags coaches will find out more about Jones-Drew's conditioning at Wednesday's practice, but for now he's only being counted on for a bit role in Week 1. He'll have to earn more snaps and touches with solid practice and on-field play as the season moves along.

Danger! Danger Will Robinson!

Coach Mike Mularkey said he prefers to give his feature backs the majority of the work.
Mularkey isn't on board with the committee trend sweeping NFL backfields. He rode Michael Turner into the ground with the Falcons and did the same with Jerome Bettis back in Pittsburgh. On Monday, Mularkey was asked if Maurice Jones-Drew will get most of the carries once he's 100 percent. "That's kind of the way the system works, yes," Mularkey said. "Whoever starts, the other one will handle the third downs."

I agree Danger. I have him in FFLW league and so hope I'm wrong but I won't be surprised by week 6 if MJD isn't missing games due to an injury

I mean more danger this week: anyone starting any Jags RB may unexpectedly get nothing from them.
