Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks isn’t making the trip to Carolina.

Just hours after the Giants listed Nicks as questionable for Thursday night’s game against the Panthers with a foot injury, the team announced that Nicks is not on the team flight to Carolina and won’t play against the Panthers.

That’s a bigger blow to the Giants than any of the players they had already listed out, running back Ahmad Bradshaw, offensive lineman David Diehl, receiver Domenik Hixon and defensive end Adewale Ojomo.

Hakeem Nicks (foot) "definitely anticipates" playing in Week 4 against the Eagles.
Nicks sat out Monday's practice and will do so again on Wednesday and Friday. He'll only practice once per week until the foot rounds into shape. "I had to look at the situation and I knew we had another big game coming up with Philly," Nicks said of last Thursday night's absence. "So ... I just took it in stride, pulled up the positive aspect about it. I’ll be ready to go for Philly."

Start him with confidence. In fact any week where he practices at least once I'd start him.

Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks is unlikely to play on Sunday night against the Eagles.

The Giants have listed Nicks as doubtful with the foot injury he suffered two weeks ago, and he has also reportedly experienced swelling in his knee. Nicks has already missed one game, last Thursday against the Panthers, and now appears set to miss another.

Nicks was off to a great start this season, with 14 catches for 237 yards and a touchdown in the first two weeks. The Giants’ offense played well in his absence against the Panthers.

Back when the Giants were only worried about Hakeem Nicks’ broken foot, things were simple.

They’d wait for the bone to heal, he’d be better, and they’d proceed.

But it’s a knee problem that concerns them now, when the wide receiver experienced swelling after running for the first time in a week. It’s cost him two straight games, and his status for this week is uncertain.

“I won’t know until I see what happens, where he’s at as we go forward here and analyze him and the doctors get their hands on him again and he communicates with them,” Giants coach Tom Coughlin said, via Jorge Castillo of the Newark Star-Ledger.

Asked if Nicks’ knee was improving, Coughlin said: “Not that I know of.”

When he was asked his level of concern about his wide receiver’s health, Coughlin replied: “How much concern can I show you?”

Were not quite sure what is wrong spells doom. I'm starting to get the feeling we'll be lucky to see Nicks play in half the games this year.

Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks will miss his third consecutive game.

Nicks, who has been dealing with a knee injury, has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Browns. Giants coach Tom Coughlin said he didn’t think Nicks’s knee was improving, and the fact that the Giants are ruling him out already indicates that they don’t think it’s going to improve soon.

Although Nicks had a tremendous game in Week Two, catching 10 passes for 199 yards and a touchdown in a comeback win over the Buccaneers, he hasn’t played since then. The Giants have said they are not concerned about the foot injury that caused Nicks to miss most of the offseason, but the knee is clearly becoming a concern.

Giants receiver Ramses Barden may miss Sunday’s game with a concussion, which would leave Domenik Hixon as the receiver to start opposite Victor Cruz.

Giants WR Ramses Barden (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 5.
The G-Men will turn to a three-wide set of Victor Cruz, Domenik Hixon, and Rueben Randle against the Browns. With Hakeem Nicks (knee, foot) showing signs of progress, Barden can be dropped in 10- and 12-team fantasy leagues.

bring on Rueben Randle! Drafted him in the 2nd round of my dynasty league. Excited to see what he has got. After week 2 I thought I had a steal in Nicks as a draft pick now it is looking like a bust. I usually stay away from pre-season injured people. need to remind myself of that. :banghead:

Hakeem Nicks (knee, foot) is listed as questionable for Week 6 after practicing for a second straight day Friday.
Practicing Friday after a Thursday workout was a big step in Nicks' recovery because he showed an ability to bounce back from the previous-day workout without debilitating swelling or soreness. While Nicks remains a likely game-time decision for Sunday's 4:25ET matchup with San Francisco, it appears he's getting over the hump. Nicks owners should secure Domenik Hixon or Rueben Randle as a safety valve, but he's worth waiting for in the late game.

Friday practice sounds very encouraging. Sits last week again in preparation for this big game. I think they had this circled all along as the week to come back. Very interesting that the post above doesn't even mention Barden. He looks like he might have been a one hit wonder. I won't be surprised if nicks has to sit at a later point in the season for a game with his multiple injuries one of them is bound to show up again.

Nicks is on the Giants’ flight to San Francisco for Sunday’s game against the 49ers, which is a strong sign that he will play. Nicks has been listed as questionable, but he said during the week that he was feeling good at practice and optimistic he could go.
